Entering UnchARTed Territory

Several years ago, I was on a mountain biking excursion in Jamaica and the guides led us to a rocky cliff about 20 feet about sea level. When we got there, they instructed us to get off of our bikes and jump off the cliff. I looked over the edge and noticed the jutting rocks below, but I also saw the way others were jumping and landing safely into the pristine waters. I went back and forth for what felt like several minutes before deciding that I would jump. After all, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I would regret it if I didn’t.
Have you ever been in a situation that feels a bit like standing on that cliff? What did you do? How did you respond?
Many ordinary experiences in my life bring up that same feeling of fear and hesitation that I had while standing on the edge of the cliff that day. Yet, I continue to make the choice to jump off the cliff, not knowing what to expect after I jump. I’ve learned that, in life, I can’t avoid taking risks if I want to see change.
One of those risks was leaving my full-time job to start my private practice. I sought comfort and encouragement in my support system, comprised of family, friends, and colleagues who have taken this leap before me. I’ve finished laying the groundwork and, now, it’s my turn to jump. Although nothing is promised, I need to trust that I will land safely and softly on whatever lies below, like I have done in the past. With that, I am thrilled to announce the grand opening of UnchARTed Territory Counseling and Art Therapy Services!
Please take a few minutes to explore my website to learn more about the services I offer, take a virtual tour of the new office space, and get to know me through reading some blog posts.
